Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (choose your favorite variety)

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200ºF (93ºC). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Remove any stickers, then wash and dry the apples.
  • Optional: Peel and core the apples.
  • With a sharp knife or mandoline, slice the apples to 1/16-inch 1/8-inch thick. If you leave the core intact, remove the seeds from the individual slices.
  • Spread the apple slices on a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Make sure the slices don't overlap.
  • Optional: Lightly dust the apples with ground cinnamon. Turn the apple slices over and lightly sprinkle them with cinnamon.
  • Bake for 1 hour, then flip the slices and bake until the apples are mostly dry, a bit curled up and crispy around the edges. About an additional hour.
  • Let the apples cool in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Remove from the oven and let them sit for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet. Test for crispiness. If they are not crispy enough, bake them for about 15 more minutes or until you reach the desired crispiness (the apples will crisp up while they cool).
  • Transfer to a cooling rack and cool completely before storing.

Air Fryer Dried Apple Chips

  • Preheat the air fryer to 300°F. Lightly spray the air fryer basket.
  • Optional: Toss the apples with cinnamon.
  • Place the sliced apples in the air fryer basket on a single layer. Don’t let the slices overlap.
  • Air fry until they are dry to the touch, about 15 minutes, flipping them every 5 minutes.
  • Allow the apples to cool on a wire rack.
